Currently, you can only have one conversation with the Dev Assistant in VS Code. When I close my IDE, the conversation is gone, and as far as I can see, it is not possible to continue the conversation after the restart.
Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like to be able to restart my IDE, and continue the conversation where I've left off. Some kind of mechanism to persist the conversation would be great. When you use ChatGPT, it is possible to have multiple conversations with the AI, each having it's own context. It's possible to "pause" a conversation, start another for some interrupt that happens, and pick up the conversation a few hours or days later.
Describe alternatives you've considered
