Hi all,

I’m looking into creating a test framework for Transit and its various modules. One difficulty I’m facing is the Makefiles. Does the group have any desire to simplify / redo the Makefile(s)?

I'm not sure, but I think Pato used some sort of makefile-making tool.
They may be much simpler in their source form if they are in effect
object code. If not, converting them to such would not be a bad idea,
though that might require restructuring the directories. Are you
experienced with make, automake, or other tools in this class? If so,
go ahead and branch away. If not, I'd suggest some reading first.
These tools can be subtle, but they can help make it run on many
platforms.

It may be a bit of a pain to convert, but we use the scons build system for
most of our stuff on LSST, and it is really nice. Most of the config gets
specified with python files, and it really simplifies things.
