Goals (by priority)

  • Make FDTD usable as eps -> spectrum forward model
  • Make FDTD usable for training (can be slow)
  • Patterned layers
  • Make NIDN ready for release (long-term)

Requirements (by priority)

Steps (by priority)

  • Make a very simple copy of the "Running TRCWA" Notebook but with FDTD
  • Produce output spectrum for a few materials and have a quick look at literature / ask José if it sensible
  • Make a very simple copy of the "Example Training FDTD" Notebook, e.g. single layer TiO & three layer uniform (see paper)
  • In the docs a clear overview of all (TRCWA) / FDTD parameters that can be configured with links to further documentation (papers, other frameworks etc.)
  • Check input to compute_spectrum_fdtd for sanity #55
  • Adapt the code to project pattern onto FDTD grid

Optional

  • Speeding it up

wrt docs overview of parameters:

Add a section here https://github.com/esa/NIDN/blob/main/docs/tutorial.rst for parameters:

  • Link to some reference sources for detailed explanations ( both FDTD , GRCWA docs + maybe papers / RCWA paper e.g.?)
  • Have brief description of the parameters similar to the cfg file but maybe slightly more verbose?
