#Project Title: Fuel Consumption

Context:

Canada uses more energy per capita than any other country in the world. One of the contributing factor is the reliance on automobiles. In fact, Canada have one of the highest ratios of car ownership in the world, with close to one vehical for every two Canadians. Climate change, sustainability, energy and fuel consumption from transportation are all interrelated topics that are worth investigating.

Project Statement

Investigate and analyze data to identify trends and patterns that impact energy or fuel consumption. Develop recommendations for different types of vehicles to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Propose policies that would help mitigate climate change.

Tasks

  • Merge .csv files in /data/consumption_clean/
  • Find out how many missing values are in each column of merged .csv file
  • If somebody is going to purchase a battery-powered vehichle, what are the top options in terms of charging time? In terms of range? InHwa
  • If somebody is going to purchase a hybrid vehichle, what are the top options in terms of range? In terms of CO2 rating? In terms of smog rating? Christina
  • If somebody is going to purchase a fossil fuel-powered vehicle, what are your recommendations? How do the following affect smog and CO2 rating: engine size, cylinders, transmission, fuel type, comb(L/100km), class, manufacturer? Janet, Minh, Janice
  • If you were working for the government and wanted to put in place policies that would help mitigate climate change, what would you reccommend?
  • What is the biggest take-home message that you can see in this dataset?
