The Shaman is completely nonfunctional, right? People?

It sure is. Mozilla turned off the sync 1.1 servers and changed the sync method. Its now done via Firefox Accounts which has a different authentication scheme(OAUTH), and access to this service is restricted to only mozilla services/products.
