From what I gather with the files sidebar, it has been problematic to work with more complex UI.
However, the SourceList sidebar is something many other apps may want to use so I'd suggest figuring out a way to make it easier for elementary to work with while also keeping a similar UX.
Aside from that how much work did it actually take to align the DnD animation so perfectly?
