Your use case

What would you like to do?

I want to be able to give the other user in a DM a different display name, even if it's only changed on my own client.

Why would you like to do it?

So that I don't have to see the name of the other user he gave himself.

How would you like to achieve it?

With the introduction of a new keyword, similarly to the existing /nick and /myroomnick.

Have you considered any alternatives?

An alternative is asking the other user to change his display name in the room. But he doesn't want to change it.
