Unable to publish room

Steps to reproduce

"Stack and Stackage" (main address #haskell-stack:matrix.org) is a public room. It also has local addresses #stack:matrix.org, #haskell-stack:matrix.org and #haskellstack:matrix.org. When I try to enable option Publish this room to the public in matrix.org's room directory? I get a dialog box:

Unable to publish room
There was an error publishing this room
<OK>

No other explanation is given for the error or what steps might need to be taken to resolve it.

EDIT: I also have the same experience with Element in a browser. The browser outcome looks like this:

I expected to be able to publish the room via the option, as documented here: https://ems-docs.element.io/books/element-support/page/managing-a-room-room-settings. Or I expected:

• limitations to publishing a public room to be documented; or
• the application to identify what error had occurred; or
• the applicaton to suggest ways the error experienced could be mitigated.

Are you a matrix.org user? If so they mangled their server into forbidding publishing rooms with an unspecified error.

@t3chguy, thanks - so this is a current matrix.org problem? (Also, I've clarified my response on the subject of logs.)

It is a limitation which matrix.org has imposed on its users and not one the spec provides an errcode for so isn't one that Element can provide a better error message for nor does it have a way to detect it being done so cannot hide the field. I suggest seeking help from matrix.org
