This should be added indeed in the docs folder, where it is expected.

Maybe we can use a default template to start off explaining the code. What about adding the Wiki functionality here in Github te develop a Decumentation together?

I am a web programmer and am mainly interested to read how I can fix small issues in the source code of the UI and contribute this to your code

If the Readme resides in https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk/ it should be solved there: matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#286 and a hint to that repository should be placed in a contributor-instruction file here in the docs

Closing as this hasn't seen any input since 2016 and without further detail it seems unclear what the concrete scope and benefit would be here.
