Hi, I've just downloaded the app and moved it to the Applications folder as instructed, but it crashes every time I try to open it. Running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

Thanks for your help and for developing this app, it looks good! Hopefully this issue is easy to solve, I am sure I'm missing something, but I can't figure out what.

Cheers.

Apologies....saw this shortly after I published this issue:

Application Crashing or not opening? (That's because it doesn't have the data, follow the below steps)

Download Sample Built-in Data, Unzip and Copy Files (from unzipped folder)
Go to ~/Library/Containers/com.RishirajSharma.Swiftness/Data/Documents/ Remove All the files in it
Paste the copied files and now open Swiftness App.

Great, let me know if you encounter any other issues.

I downloaded the app and facing the same crash behaviour. The workaround to add the data does not help either.

Please let me know your macOS version. Moreover,

  • You will need to replace the files (not just copy/paste). Moving the folder will not resolve this either.
  • Try restarting the app.

App opens in menu-bar (top bar of desktop) by default so you will need to click on it open the desktop-app:

I'm using the MacOS 10.14.3 (beta) and when I try to open the app from the Menu, it just flashes and quits.

Its working fine with 10.14.1, let me check it with beta version too. (I will soon revert you on this)

One more thing, do you have dark theme enabled?

I’ve got the dark mode enabled. Tried with the Light mode too and still does the same behavior.

Thanks for looking into it.

Hi @sumgro,

Sorry for the delay in updating here.

I just tried to fix this for 10.14.x (find the attachment). Please confirm it so I will update it on release section, also follow the steps of data-moving if it crashes on launch..

Download Swiftness [10.14.x Update].zip

Hi @ehrishirajsharma, thanks for the revert.

I've tried the attached version, it still crashes when Dark Mode is enabled and app is opened.

However, when Light Mode is enabled, the app works. Post opening the app, switching to Dark Mode the app continues to work (but the icon from Menu bar does invisible).

Hope this helps in making the right decision to fix/publish the update.

Guess, spoke too soon. After quitting the app once, it does not work again...both in light or dark mode.
Light mode: the menu bar icon appears, but clicking on the icon just terminates the app
Dark mode: does not launch the app at all

Make sure you've removed the older-app and replaced with the newer version (also try to copy/paste the data as mentioned in Readme). Let me know if this doesn't fix.

However, when Light Mode is enabled, the app works. Post opening the app, switching to Dark Mode the app continues to work (but the icon from Menu bar does invisible).

App only supports light mode for now and it was originally built for High Sierra therefore, it has some drawbacks with Mojave. I will soon have updates on #2 or keep looking on the Electron version for macOS support (I will build the macOS version too)

Hi @sumgro

Let me know if you're still facing the same issue. I will work on a better fix for this.

Hi @sumgro

Let me know if you're still facing the same issue. I will work on a better fix for this.

Been a little busy so could not test or revert.

The app seems to be fixed post the workaround with sample data in light mode. It continues to work even after the mode is switched to dark one with known issues.- the icon is missing from the menu bar and the text on the app is not visible.

Also, the app is working when initialised in the dark mode, with known issues.

Thanks for making it work, really appreciate it.

Cheers!!

Great! The issues related to missing icons, invisible texts are due to missing Mojave/Dark Menu Bar support(#2) I will try to release the Mojave support very soon.

@ehrishirajsharma,

I still experience the problem that the app doesn't work on Mojave 10.14.4 Beta in light mode.
When the app was opened, I see the icon in the menu bar but as soon as I click on it, it just disappears and nothing happens anymore.

This was done with a fresh install from the zip that you posted in this thread.
Any ideas what I'm still doing wrong?

Hi @mkesselaers,

Did you try the following steps (mentioned in Readme)

  • Download Sample Built-in Data, Unzip and Copy Files (from unzipped folder)
  • Go to ~/Library/Containers/com.RishirajSharma.Swiftness/Data/Documents/ Remove All the files in it
  • Paste the copied files and now open Swiftness App.

If this doesn't work than please wait for a week more, I am building the electron package for macOS (that currently supports macOS Mojave). I will ping you again when that gets available.

Hi @ehrishirajsharma ,

With this ample data, it seems to work.
Strangely enough, I'd found another file on github which didn't work, but it also was called 'sample-built-in-data.swd' instead of data.swd

Great, this will only work with light-mode.

I will find and fix the incorrect file link, thanks.

Hi @shivankar-madaan,

I am currently maintaining SwiftnessX which have these features and supports most of the operating-systems.

I may soon deprecate this repository if I don't find any issues with Electron version on its scalability and reliability.

I am unable to use it with the pre built sample data. I copied it but still same empty lines. My mac os is catalina. I can't find any checklist or any other prebuilt data.
