What does the support in jdtls for Maven pom.xml comprise? #2853

The README says that jdtls has support for pom.xml, but I'm wondering what exactly does that mean. |

How can I determine if that's done correctly or not? The reason I ask is that I'm using vanilla eglot in Emacs 29, which uses jdtls for java, and while completion works for types in the standard library (java.util., java.io., etc.), it does not work for other libraries I've brought in as pom.xml dependencies. The problem is either in eglot, or jdtls, or in both. If I could somehow verify that jdtls has imported the Maven project correctly and determined the maven classpath correctly, that would rule out jdtls and allow me to concentrate on eglot. |

I'm afraid I can't as it's a private repository that I don't own. However, I tried to illustrate it with the jdtls repository in this screencast: https://asciinema.org/a/WuBzbc8OTVcIPfr7HrTt70bIX Honestly, it's unclear to me why eglot in Emacs with jdtls offers completions sometimes but at other times it does not. The problem may not be with jdtls, but it's difficult to isolate where the problem lies. |

What I was trying to do--use Emacs 29.1 with built-in eglot, with jdtls as the language server, and obtain completions with eglot with jdtls as the backend--seems to work more reliably (perhaps perfectly) with the latest jdtls snapshot build 1.28 from 2023-09-14, but does not work with the latest milestone build 1.9.0 from 2022-03-03. Admittedly, that milestone build is 18 months old at the time of writing, but evidently a lot has changed. Given this experience, I wouldn't recommend to anyone to use a jdtls milestone build. |
