Replication from fresh mysql failed with:

Error: unable to activate transfer:
activation failed with:
failed to execute mysql activate hook:
Cannot synchronize binlog position:
failed to get log file position: unable to get binlog position:
unable to get master status:
Error 1064 (42000):
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'replication status' at line 1
