Unschooling in Suriname

Homeschooling is a legal form of schooling
It requires no prior authorisation
It can be curriculum-free

Context

Homeschooling in Suriname is subject to Chapter 2, Section 2 of the Wet Primair Onderwijs en Toezicht.

Article 19.2 states :

If the child does not present itself to the Examination Office in time or does not obtain the certificate of primary education after a maximum of two attempts, the parents must register the child either in a school recognized by the Ministry or in one of the following schools:

a. international schools whose study certificates, after a equivalence investigation by NOVA, as equivalent are considered;

b. schools located abroad, where the school age child face-to-face education.
