Unschooling in Slovakia

Homeschooling is a legal form of schooling
It requires no prior authorisation
It can be curriculum-free

Context

According to the školský zákon, homeschooling is only possible for primary education, and :

§ 24 Individual education

(1) The principal of the school to which the pupil was admitted (hereinafter referred to as the "primary school") decides on the permission of individual education, based on a written request of the legal representative of a minor or on the basis of a written request of an adult pupil. […]

§ 26 Individual curriculum

(1) Education according to an individual curriculum may be authorized by the school principal at the request of the student's legal representative or based on the request of an adult student. Education according to the individual curriculum of a pupil who is being prepared in the dual education system can be permitted by the school principal after the consent of the employer with whom the pupil is being trained.

(2) Education according to an individual curriculum may be permitted by the school director for a gifted student or for serious reasons, especially pregnancy and maternity.

According to HSLDA

Homeschooling got legalised in 2008 but

A child´s legal representative (e.g., parent) should fulfill qualification requirements or hire a teacher fulfilling these qualification requirements.

Children who are homeschooled are required to be taught the same curriculum as children at school and are required to be board examined at school every 6 months
