The wasi-sockets proposal for preview2 is now part of the WASI depedencies in Wasmtime: https://github.com/bytecodealliance/wasmtime/tree/main/crates/wasi/wit/deps.

Preview2 integration with the component model is going to require some thought and wasi-sockets might be an interesting start.
