Can't Dump Large Files

I've ran into this problem a couple of times. Sometimes games keep a bunch of data stored in very large files. Whenever I try to dump these, it goes on for a while but then at some point while dumping the file it freezes up or stops dumping or something, and trying to dump i again usually results in the same thing. Is there anyway to dump these files completely or be able to resume the partial download of a file?
