I'm keen to extend this to other lock formats and contribute back, but STL's aren't the easiest format to work work.

Is the source of the model available in whatever native format they were designed in?

Alternatively (if the native files aren't available, or they're in something proprietary that I can't open) I might have a crack at re-creating the original models using OpenSCAD to make a nice parametric model that could be easily adapted to any traditional key style.

Did you end up making a version in OpenSCAD?

Not sure if you're still interested, but - for the same reasons - I am building a basic implementation of an OpenSCAD-driven generator: https://github.com/thisismyrobot/LishiKeyCuttingGuides

Just closing this off, I've made it quite configurable and tested it with Schlage, Kwikset and Lockwood. There has had to be some compromises for that flexibility, but it works.
