I would like to see documentation on the telemetry data collected by dbt-core. I found instructions for disabling it but everything else I came across was outdated.
For context, I'm raising this because I'm researching telemetry practices to provide recommendations to my company. After starting with the JS world, I was surprised to see that dbt has no documentation on this given the community's interest in data. Even after checking the code, it wasn't clear what is being collected; for example, I only figured out what project_id referred to after changing the code locally to add a print statement.
Here are some examples of how other services document their telemetry:
Gatsby clearly explains what is being collected and how it is used.
