JupyterLab is highly coupled with Webpack and Jupyter React suffers from that constraint. Along the road, there has been integrations with other non-webpack systems which have partially worked.

It is now a good time to fully support those integration. This aims aims to act as an umbrella and track the progress. Here is a list of targeted integrations wit their issues:

The various examples (in this repo and in the https://github.com/datalayer-examples org) will be updated and will serve as reproducers.
