The boot screen (showing the lenovo logo) takes a relatively long time ~ 4-5 sec. Perhaps that is now sufficiently long to power on the modem and check the ID?

A follow up on #36
First the good news: both "Sierra Wireless EM7345" and "Sierra Wireless EM7455" modems work when they're hotplugged while the machine is suspended.
However the trick to bypass the BIOS whitelist as mentioned described at https://github.com/danielewood/sierra-wireless-modems#user-content-bypass-lenovo-whitelist-for-t470carbon-x1-g6-and-other-newer-lenovo-laptops does not work on this X1 Gen8.

Did anyone else have success with it?
