I think it would make more sense to just remove the "DTF" label and let users decide for themselves what they mean

Sure, changing the label might also be a good idea; but whatever label (or lack of label) the checkbox has, I think it's potentially still good for users to be able to specify what kind of relationship they're looking for, so that people have a better idea of whether to check them off. I'm basing this on the discussion around the dildo.io relaunch, where people said they'd like to be able to publicly state things like "I'm ace" on the site, so that other users can avoid checking them off in the first place if the kinds of relationship they want are incompatible.
