Following https://crxjs.dev/vite-plugin/getting-started/vanilla-js/create-project instructions results in a failing npm run dev command.

you need to install crxjs as well. This seems to be left out of the documentation.

npm i -D @crxjs/vite-plugin@beta

I recommend beta over lts because it hasn't been touched in 2 years
