Kudos to crocos for this repo, including the instructions.

I just patted myself on the back for fixing a problem and submitting a pull request. Then I found out I was the 3rd person to fix that problem. @crecos has not merged the existing pull requests. So I suggest you find a forked version of this repo, as this repo seems abandoned. I'm creating this github issue, because when I experienced the problem, I checked this repo's issues but not pull requests. So I hope this saves someone.

Here was the original issue:

$ phpenv pecl solr-2.1.0
phpenv v0.0.4-dev

phpenv v0.0.4-dev

[info] build solr-2.1.0 on php-5.5.9
[info] create build directory: /tmp/pecl-build/
[warn] already exist old dir. remove it.

tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

You can see the curl command fail. The error message is rather confusing.
