Add ability to sort lines

Would it be possible to add the ability to sort lines.
Highlight lines, select from menu or use keyboard shortcut to sort selection.
Similar to the sort functionality in vim?

Initially, I'm thinking that this is something for @zalox's python plugin system, when it is finished.
