The tricky bit for CSI will be what a compliant version is. In the future we will have a "certification" process for CSI. But because that doesn't exist right now, the safest option would be for CSI drivers to not use the the logo. Once the certification process is established, go through certification, and then use the logo.

I would encourage you to go the other direction. Drivers that, in good faith, are trying to be compatible should use the logo. In the future, we may create a separate certified logo, like: https://github.com/cncf/artwork/blob/master/kubernetes/certified-kubernetes/versionless/color/certified-kubernetes-color.png

Sounds good to me too.

Should we publish some guidance (before a more official certification test suite is ready) as a basis for drivers to say they are compliant?

I would recommend using language based on the Linux Foundation's trademark guidelines:

https://www.linuxfoundation.org/trademark-usage/

Certain marks of The Linux Foundation have been created to enable you to communicate compatibility or interoperability of software or products. In addition to the requirement that any use of a mark to make an assertion of compatibility must, of course, be accurate, the use of these marks must avoid confusion regarding The Linux Foundation’s association with the product. The use of the mark cannot imply that The Linux Foundation or its projects are sponsoring or endorsing the product.
