How does checkbox input work?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use the checkboxes. I'm typing them exactly as they are on the format page and they don't work properly. I can use the default emojis that come with obsidian like start now etc... but the custom ones with Things don't work unless I copy paste them from the example on the main page. Can anyone help? I know this is a stupid question.

i have also tried typing them manuelly

Copy pasting does seem to work

one anoything thing is that clicking the special ones turnes them of and clicking them again makes them normal checkboxes.

hey @NicTanghe and @Rick1029, thanks for creating the issue. can you ensure you've updated your theme to the latest version? and mind pasting some screenshots of how you're typing them manually and not seeing them render properly? thanks!

Same problem.
The upper one is I type manually. The lower one is I copy and paste, which would work properly.
