First, thanks for Vide Monkey! It's greatly appreciated!

So far, I can't find, in VideoMonkey, a feature in Handbrake that I'd always considered to be sort of basic:

In Handbrake you can select the DVD at its top level (often called "DVD_VIDEO"), hit Open, and after processing, you get a menu that allows you to select the precise chapter you'd like to import (and it shows you the length of that chapter).

Conversely, in VideoMonkey, it seems we're unable to select the top level of a DVD. Instead we have to navigate to a .VOB file (or there may be other methods of importing) -- but there seems to be no way to tell which file corresponds to what chapter(s), so there's no way to import the specific chapter that is needed. :-)

If VM has this capability, but I've somehow overlooked it, please do let me know. Otherwise, I hope you'll consider adding it.

Well, it seems I may have been mistaken to think that VM would import DVD video. If VM doesn't support DVD video at all, that would certainly explain the lack of the above feature. :-/

Right, VM doesn’t attempt to support DVDs at all. After all, they are “legacy media” :-)

Handbrake is a great tool for that feature. In fact, I will often use handbrake to import videos and then use VM to add metadata and add them to my iTunes library. It’s a great way to get your TV shows into iTunes so you don’t have to keep digging out the DVD. Handbrake uses the same encoding library as VM so the resulting videos are generally compatible in the same way as VM.
