I'd accept a patch that conditionally replaces #if (something to detect VS2015)

Sounds with visual C++ has the restrict but it appears differently as: source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restrict |

Without the restrict keywords, the code seems to compile and run ok using Visual Studio 2015. How critical is the use of the restrict keyword?
