I think this is a very worthy initiative, and am glad that work has continued over the summer. What are your future plans, besides the couple of ideas mentioned in the README? Every project could use a bit of refactoring, and I am wondering if you have a plan to be able to respond to open issues, or maybe even start afresh at some point - and if not, what kind of community contribution you would especially welcome.

So the project was started to scratch our own itch, and thus has been developed according to the demands we had for Central de Dados. We don't have a formal development process -- we hack on it irregularly during our open data hackdays, according to what's needed at the moment. This is why there's no coherent plan, and we certainly could get better at this. Dealing with the open issues is a great starter to move in that direction, thanks for mentioning that as we've been neglecting those.
As for future plans, I'd really love to move towards simplicity of installation and portability; to address your question about community contributions, I'd probably start by asking -- are you using it? If not, what's missing to make this a viable package for your needs?
