In a Line graph, make the hover area size configurable for the tooltip that is displayed when hovering over a data point or axis.
Justification
This would improve the UX for end users by making it easier to trigger the tooltip.
Desired UX and success metrics
On a line graph it can be difficult to trigger the tooltip when hovering over a data point or vertical axis because the hover area is quite small. It would improve the UX if I could make that hover area larger.
Alternatively/additionally, when hovering over a vertical axis it would be great to have it automatically snap to the nearest axis and show the tooltip (if I'm not hovering over a single data point). The axis snap radius could be configurable.
For example, if the axis snap radius is 100px but the cursor is > 100px from any axis then the value legend is NOT displayed. However, if the cursor is within 100px of one or more axes then it snaps to the nearest axis and displays those values.
I'm not sure how to measure success metrics.
"Must have" functionality
Make the hover area configurable when hovering over a data point or axis.
Specific timeline issues / requests
This is not urgent.
Available extra resources
I'd be happy to take a stab at it if someone provides some guidance.
What priority level would this issue be in your opinion?
