when you try to import from online DB..

Could not connect to the online database: Unable to connect to the remote server

also, the "Help/about" takes you to the dead site http://ketarin.canneverbe.com/
instead of https://ketarin.org/

I too have the same issue as reported since months. Supposedly there should be a 1.9 (alpha/beta) version lying somewhere, also mentioned in the (quite dead too) forum, I have no idea if it would fix the issue.

Whatever is the case, is this project officially dead?

There have been some hosting issues over the last few months and that is causing problems. @floele was taking care of everything himself so if you can lighten the load, please do.

The FAQ/wiki is now here and the online database integrates into the forum using third-party code that needs to be updated with every release of the forum software, and the forum software often needs to be updated to resolve security issues, so the online database feature can lag behind.

While the ability to download from or update apps within the online database within Ketarin is currently broken, you can download the XML profiles for apps directly from this page on the Ketarin site and they will still import and operate the same as if you used the interactive "import from online database" option. Just copy the XML from the app profile and paste it into the main Ketarin window. If you have problems with some apps imported this way you may need to use Notepad as an intermediary step in order to strip out any extraneous HTML: just paste it into a new notepad window, then select all, copy, and paste it into Ketarin.

Ketarin is not dead. It is mature, which is often confused. It is stable, working, and aside from the online database, which faces issues not at the app level but the server level, there are no significant bugs in Ketarin itself. There are still changes and forum posts -- I know because I actively post on the forum myself and still respond to most questions there.

@floele , if you'd like to send me the code for the online database integration I'm happy to investigate and get it working again when I have some free time.

Hey, thank you for the follow-up and for shedding some light on the project's status. I should have missed all this information somewhere, or are they resulting from scattered information taken from different sources? Nevertheless, these info should be put on the front page of the Github project, maybe, so others could be aware as well.

I am happy to read the project is alive and well, even if there are still some quirky issues with variables to be honest. I have a rule for downloading Mountain Duck and all of a sudden Ketarin pretends to already have the latest version (not true), because it pretends to already have the extracted {version} variable at the actual value (not true). Net result, it refuses to download the file, even being asked to forcefully do it. I've removed the rule, patched the value in the jobs.db to alter the broken logic, reimported the rule, and it stills refuses to download the file. I gave over, I am wondering if it is because I am still using Ketarin 1.8.11.

Where is the famous 1.9 beta available for download? I apologize for having stolen the original thread, I am still a rookie in Github.

1.9 beta is available here. Please backup your jobs.db first. There are some issues with that version.

For the issues you're having with Mountain Duck, please join the forum and share your app profile and ask about it there. GitHub is really for the app itself, not for troubleshooting app profiles, and I don't want to hijack this thread any more than we already have. :)

I've just done it, thanks, there is a new post in bugs. Eventually, it may ends up that I was fooled by the application's web page erratic content, but Ketarin misbehaved involuntarily as well.

i thing not

the script/powershell and the regex/variables/links usefull for download everything and better than the online database

@ekardian the online database does exactly the same thing; it just provides existing app profiles to use instead of having to manually recreate the wheel with every app you want to monitor.
