Note to self: indexing for fulltext search is currently the main performance bottleneck. There's a web-worker-enabled version of js-search which is worth looking into. Also, there's a project called FlexSearch that also has web-worker support, and can export and import indices. This would open the possibility of storing indices to local storage and/or doing server-side pre-indexing.
