To keep this project achievable in the short term, there are a lot of ideas that we're going to have to put aside to come back to later once we have something that's stable and playable (having a game in that state also gives us something good to compare against to decide which ideas work together, which don't, and which feel right for the direction of the project).

It's important to consider these features as undecided upon, but open for consideration. Inclusion on this page doesn't guarantee that something will get in, nor will it mean that it will be put off forever.

General design ideas

  • Cart deformation modeling. If we are tracking the current health of the cart, we could switch out the cart model to a deformed one based on the current health of the cart.

On Foot Gameplay

  • Patrick's design notes say that he intended that there would be no on foot gameplay, but several people have expressed interest in this

  • klink has suggested removing the traditional golf swing interface in favour of a more action oriented approach where your angle of approach when running at the ball determines aim, and the distance run to the ball and timing of an action button determine velocity

  • People have suggested golf club melee combat against other players and/or opponent carts

  • Start each hole with the players on the tee box and a collision box keeping them from leaving that area. This same box can block carts from running onto the tee box. There would be a similar box around the green.

once the last player to tee off hits there ball, players are allowed off the tee box. They run to their cart and drive over / through people to get to their ball... Where they will need jump out to hit their next shot.

I think players would be quite a bit more vulnerable while not in their cart.

Other ideas...

  • Add a spot at the back of the cart to switch the players club... even with 3 clubs, driver, iron and putter, it'd make it interesting if you had to get out and switch your club. Give other players a chance to ram you into next week.

golfbag

  • regarding scoring... Along with regular stroke rules of golf, add a par time and x number of seconds under or over that time counts as a stroke on the players score. When someone gets hit it may knock them a ways away and that time it takes them to recover and get back to hit their ball will end up costing them a stroke or two.

Golf Cart Melee

  • People have suggested "golf polo" where a ball can be hit from within a cart
  • People have suggested that players should be able to hit opponents/opponent carts with a golf club whilst driving

#Upgrade System *Perhaps you could visit a back alley madman who can upgrade the cart and/or supply you with new ones? I kinda wanna do a RocketCart.

#Long Grass Green *The green is not maintained properly and is no longer nicely kept grass, it is overgrown and high. *This would slow ball movement down and maybe make you harder to spot. Gameplay wise this would mean that, because the gameplay slows down a bit, the opponents will have a more fair chance at reaching the green once another player would reach it. Also visually this would impact the level and maybe make the green a more interesting place.
