bug: switching views in edit mode messes up styling

Bug description

When the view list/configurator is expanded, switching views causes the view tabs to shrink into a small vertical space, and adds a big gap at the bottom of the list, before the widgets:

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Edit Mode
2. Expand the Views list, via the arrow button in the top left corner
3. Change the active View
4. See an unwanted large space

Primary pain point(s)

Wastes interface space, and makes the view widgets harder to access.
