I have tested Buddypress 1.8.1 and didn't find major issues.
I'm not 100% sure about the impact of issue #58.

bbpress should be test separated (issue #60 ). Also test version 1.9 (issue #61 )

All Buddypress stuff show up after setting permalink and add BuddyPress pages to the main menu:
