Basho makes available a preconfigured EC2 AMI, which is helpful for rapidly deploying and scaling a cluster on EC2. This AMI being based on Amazon Linux, it does not seem the packages provided by this project work with it.
It does seem that as a workaround, a node can be temporarily created on an instance running Ubuntu, but out-of-the-box support would certainly be welcome.
