This questions was triggered by a recent discussion about whether or not Office Hours are events? #1006
Assuming that we make improvements to how we list and promote events on our suite of websites, let's make sure we have a common understanding of what we consider events.
What would you like to see listed on an events page?

My preference would be that we continue to treat events and meetings differently. I would differentiate between the two based upon two primary factors.
Who is the audience?
What are the goals?
For me, the primary target of meetins are existing members of the community. While anyone is welcome at our meetings, we really focus the content on folks who are already currently involved in the community and working on tasks.
I think of events as anything targeted at the public to inform or educate them about BackdropCMS or the community. Meetings are intended to get work done or to facilitate work within the community.
I think of Office Hours as an event, because it's intent is to welcome new members to the community with information and support.
