Cannot read property 'connection' of undefined

After installed the extension and navigate to Users UI, the browser console shows this error:
TypeError: Cannot read property 'connection' of undefined and the users never load. Am I missing some configuration step in the client created by the extension?
I am following this guide which is pretty straightforward:
