Editing my original comment (in which I said I had the same result) to say that I noticed that the client's dev site wasn't logging anything in the Civi log at all (a problem to which I'll circle back later), so I tested this first on another dev site (worked) and then the client's production site (also worked). @benrfairless You might check to see if your Civi is updating the Civi log at all?
