Hi, when I run the plugin to read data from a DynamoDB instance, the dataframe creates and the metadata is good for the dataframe (such as count etc...). I'm wondering if someone can help out.
I'm running Spark 2.4.6 with Java 1.8 ([email protected]), with scala 2.11 running Python 3.6.6 for PySpark.
The version of the spark-dynamodb plugin is: com.audienceproject:spark-dynamodb_2.11:1.0.4'
When I try to do a show operation to view the data or do any sort of write I am seeing the following issue:
In my data I have one String, one Boolean and one Integer field shown through calling printSchema() as:
20/08/21 09:00:03 INFO DataSourceV2Strategy:
Pushing operators to class com.audienceproject.spark.dynamodb.datasource.DefaultSource
Pushed Filters:
Post-Scan Filters:
Output: bval#0, sval#1, ival#2
The failure log is below:
py4j.protocol.Py4JJavaError: An error occurred while calling o35.showString.
: org.apache.spark.SparkException: Job aborted due to stage failure: Task 0 in stage 3.0 failed 1 times, most recent failure: Lost task 0.0 in stage 3.0 (TID 14, localhost, executor driver): java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Boolean

Hi patons02
Can you please try to confirm that your DynamoDB table does not contain string values in the "bval" column? If the schema is inferred as boolean at first, but then encounters string values down the line, it will fail like this.

Jacob
