In the editorial phase of the remote ID standard, we were strongly encouraged to remove the regex expressions as it is easy to get them wrong and disable any possibility of compliance with the entire standard. We should remove them in the standard itself, and then we can provide industry augmentation to the API after it is published to include regex's (which can then be adjusted if need be).
