How will we evaluate the impact of California’s exciting investments in great digital services? Ultimately the most meaningful metric for progress are Californians’ answers to simple questions about their daily lives.

  • How’s the line at the DMV?
  • How many potholes are on my street?
  • Do all my fellow Californians have access to clean water?
  • How many of my neighbors are unhoused?
  • Are my local schools preparing students for the new economy?
  • Are California’s public finances open and easy to understand?
  • Is the air quality in my community improving?

The OCC will serve as the key clearinghouse to answer those critical questions.

These would be good to benchmark in 2019 (perhaps at the CfA summit?) and revisit as part of the Open CA Collab in 2020 (time / resources permitting)
