To defend, you'll need to have completed a number of sub-tasks:

Complete steps/forms required by the grad school and department (https://grad.illinois.edu/thesis/departmental-approval)
Send scheduling poll to committee
Pick a time
Reserve a room
Send out invitations via email and calendar to thesis committee
Present!
