Quick Question if this application supported a GPS receivers input to show your current position on the globe. if not, what steps would need to be taken before it could? is it out of the scope? or maybe already is fulfilled by another application?

arftracksat does not currently support GPS receivers.
From what I've seen, usually satellite trackers do not have this capability, the user is expected to enter the coordinates of his station.
You can look them up using a map, or google earth, or by placing a GPS receiver with its own software there to read the coordinates.
I'm not very sure how I would support GPS in arftracksat, I suppose I would use libgps to interface with gpsd in a Linux system, albeit its limited comparibility.
This of course would be hell in Windows.

sorry, i forgot about windows for the moment, that would take some research. i recently bricked my gps receiver (malformed firmware update). once my new one arrives ill experiment around with it on linux/windows...

Np, I'm just imagining, I'm not even sure if arftracksat even builds in windows.
Love your nick btw
