Chart height seems to have no effect?

I'm new to Apex. I can't seem to make chart height do anything - my chart is always the same height. I'm doing:

const options = {
    ...
    chart: {
        height: '100px'
    },
    ...
}

...yet it always stays the same height. Looking in the DOM inspector, it seems something internal is giving the chart a min-height (in my case of 487.05px.

What am I doing wrong here?
