Is it possible to format text universally, ie. tabs, space after paragraphs, initial caps, etc? The toolbar doesn't seem to include these formatting options, so I'm wondering if it's only possible through CSS.

The general approach to formatting is that all style is governed centrally, partly by the Theme and partly universally. Not everything is customizable; for example, there is no support for first line tabs, or turning on/off initial caps. Space after paragraphs is controlled in the theme. Feel free to submit issues for specific formatting customization.
