from puyapy import Contract

class MyContract(Contract):
    def approval_program(self) -> bool:
        self.bad = 1  # invalid
        return True

    def clear_state_program(self) -> bool:
        return True

Gives the following decidedly unhelpful error message:

error: Unhandled puyapy name: builtins.int

Fixed a while ago as a side effect of the Python front-end type system overhaul, now reads:
error: Python literals of type int cannot be used as runtime values
