Currently, cpx_get_metadata() isn't exposed.

This is important for querying the capabilities of the hardware. For example, it's useful for enumerating the available trigger lines on a camera.

It is still relevant. The property "metadata" isn't exposed in the python api.

Doing so would help users create better guis and could help provide more informative error messages during configuration.
