strikethrough not working JavaScript

In JavaScript, the strikethrough (////) is working, but it also does some funky stuff to the line underneath. It makes it so that that line has a box overtop of it, and you can't edit it, and (at least on windows) is changes your cursor into a little cancel icon. What is the cause, and how do I fix it?

Can you provide more details. I checked on my vscode (running on windows). It seems to be working fine. (Steps to reproduce?)
