Shift-clicking while grabbing a crafted item should give the maximum amount of that item given the inputs.

I've seen this on MineCraft videos, and read about it as well (as I'm not a MineCraft gamer.) I get tired of clicking to make granite blocks, balancing sticks and planks for fences, or shuffling around other blocks when certain locations on the 3x3 grid run dry (eg, you have enough items but one square empties first.)

I've tried both left and right shift, so I don't think it is implemented yet. Would speed up what is now rather tedious.

I fully agree, but this needs to be done in the engine.

Ah, I see. I'll have to hunt down the MineTest bugtracker then.

Is there a document or page that describes what relies on the engine versus modding? Just discovered MineTest and wondering where the boundaries are (as it seems mods can do quite a bit!)

Not that I know of. But you're right. Mods are very strong in Minetest. In fact, they're one of the core features.
Talk to #minetest in irc.minetest.net (IRC server).

I left a comment to that same effect on the year old bug. Hopefully it will spur a bit of action to know that it's still relevant.

Yes, mods seem to be strong and a good feature of minetest (though the sporadic nature of what could be good mods that are born and shortly abandoned litter the wikis I find. Sad.)
